Hi SK
I think the Dundalk sectionals will come, but not until HRI put up the funding. The method and tech are understood/available, but someone has to pay for it.
Hopefully HRI will get the ball back rolling this year.

Great read. Do you think the sectional data will ever become available for Dundalk and will it become available for Irish racing come the turf season?
Cheers
]]>Hi Paul
SR is Peter May’s rating. There is no correlation whatsoever with sectional upgrade figures. That’s the easy one answered!
Regarding distribution, that’s a very good question, to which I don’t currently have a very good answer. I’ll try to pull some data together for next week’s article around this, though it’s definitely going to be race distance specific (i.e. more 5f races are truly run meaning upgrades may be expected to be less frequent; where as 1m4f flat races are often a crawl then a sprint, making for big upgrade territory. Anyway, great question – and well worth digging in to!)

]]>I was trying find the range for the UP figure. I know it starts at zero but I couldn’t work out what the upper limit is and what the percentile distribution would look like.
And more generally, would you be able to offer any thoughts on the relationship between the sectional timing data and the speed Rating SR in the racecard? If indeed there is one.
